Project Focus: Thread

I have a world-class support system, from my friends and my family to their friends and family, and beyond!  I want to use this blog to occasionally expose some projects that I appreciate and enjoy to my support system--and visa versa!!  I am so excited that Thread is my first Project Focus!!

Thread is a upscale resale boutique for children in Houston, and happens to be co-owned by my incredibly talented and fashion-savvy cousin, Kari, who you may recognize!  Here's what they have to say about themselves:

Thread is an upscale children’s resale boutique opening in Houston in early 2011. The modern boutique will bring stylish moms (+ dads) access to the latest children’s fashions and finds without spending a small fortune.

Lifetime friends and owners, Kari Burdick and Rebecca Clemmer, first dreamed of owning their own retail store while studying retail merchandising at UT in Austin.  They both worked at the well-known By George during college where their love and knowledge for fashion grew.  After college, Rebecca worked as a visual merchandiser, a marketing director, and most recently as the director of operations for the high-end, online children's clothing website, Milkshop.  Kari went on to teach at West University Elementary and Travis Elementary, as well as owning her own jewelry design business for a few years.

In 2008, Kari had twin boys, Miles + Oliver and Rebecca had Lucas in 2010.  Soon, they saw just how quickly children GROW!  Both women quickly found themselves surround by piles of barely worn clothes, gently used books, hardly played with toys and realized that something was missing in the Houston area.  And so Thread was born.

Totally awesome, right?  You should SEE the place!!  It's currently housed in Kari's (and her husband, Patrick's) upstairs apartment/loft, and it is to die for.  Adorable set-up, fabulous products, great prices, and best of all--the concept of reusing quality products.

They're not technically open yet, but they can't stop the business from coming in, so you might as well join the crowd!!  Their racks are full and just waiting for happy customers to come empty them.

If you have used children's clothing that you'd like to see enjoyed by another child (and you don't mind getting some of your original investment back in your pocket!), then Thread is for you.  If you like to dress your kiddos in the best of the best but would prefer to keep your expenditures manageable, then Thread is for you.  Basically, Thread is for you!!  Next time you're in Houston, you've got to check it out, and support Kari, Rebecca, and their families!!  They're having a open house-type event soon, so that would be a great chance to stop by:
